Attachment-Focused EMDR Intensives
An EMDR intensive is a therapeutic approach designed to address trauma and other distressing life experiences more quickly than traditional EMDR therapy. In an EMDR intensive, we will use a longer block of time than traditional therapy. This intensive format allows individuals to engage deeply with their healing process, aiming for quicker symptom relief and greater breakthroughs in a shorter period of time overall. It is especially beneficial for those who want accelerated results or have limited time for therapy.
Who Benefits from EMDR Intensives.
EMDR Intensives are a good option for you if, after significant time gaining insight in talk therapy, you continue to struggle with any of the following:
- Feeling not good enough, unworthy, or unlovable
- Experience significant negative self-talk or self-loathing
- Feel responsible for other people, burned out or numb to your own needs
- Often feel unsafe in the world, experience catastrophic or all-or-nothing thinking
- Have intense fears of rejection or disappointment
- Experience chronic anger or frustration
- Chronic feelings of helplessness or lethargy
- Perfectionism or procrastination
These distressing feelings may stem from negative childhood experiences. A major focus of my work is healing core shame, which often lies at the root of feeling unfulfilled in life. This may explain persistent feelings of depression, sabotaged relationships, or the urge to numb yourself with work, technology, or substances. It can also lead to feeling trapped in self-defeating patterns.
An attachment-based EMDR therapy intensive can provide faster symptom relief and emotional breakthroughs because we target the core beliefs and core memories that are subconsciously driving your thoughts about yourself. I recommend this when individuals who have undergone therapy and gained insight, but aren’t seeing the results they expect.
